SECOND GRADE

Gwendolyn M. Thomas was born in Ridgeway, South Carolina. At the age of 3, she relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina, which became her home during the remaining of her youth. She is the 10th child of eleven children. She was fortunate to have parents that were baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church by E.E. Cleveland. She was raised in a loving home where her parents were dedicated in doing the service of God and with a strong belief in Christian education.  They sacrificed much to keep her in the Adventist school system from kindergarten through college. She had loving and caring teachers that left a lasting impression on her heart and mind, therefore she decided to make teaching her career

In 1984, Mrs. Thomas received a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from the former Oakwood College. She has been an educator for over 20 years. After many years of experience, she believes that teaching is not just a career, but also a calling. She is delighted when she sees the progression and success of a student.

Mrs. Thomas has been married to her college sweetheart (Theron) for years. they have two loving adult children. Theron II (Terry), a senior and Bridget, a sophomore, at Oakwood University. She's so grateful for their patience, help and support.

She considers it a blessing to be able to teach children about the love of Jesus, work in a Christian environment, and interact with co-workers that have hearts for advancing the Lord's kingdom.
